About Cha-An

Cha-An was established in 2004 by Japanese restaurateur Bon Yagi with the Japanese concept of omotenashi (a term for whole-hearted hospitality) in mind, and with wooden tables and tatami benches, washi-paper lamps and seasonal floral decorations, Cha-An looks and feels like a little piece of Japan.

Cha-An features not only matcha and senchas from Japan, but an extensive list of teas from all over the world as well. There is a tea for everyone and all are prepared with care. Cha-An also specializes in desserts – while some are traditionally Japanese, we also blend the tastes of Japan with sweets of the West.

I went here for the mochi making class, and it was so much fun! The teacher was very friendly and helpful, and the mochi was delicious. There was leftover dough so we could take it home and make more mochi by ourselves. The teacher also served usacha which was delicious I had such a great experience, and it was such a lovely and calming environment. I definitely want to come back for some of the other events they offer as well as just come to eat and drink tea sometime. Highly recommend!

A really great tea house with desserts! They used to have a lot of tea options but it looks like now it's limited. My favorite thing from the recent visit was the black sesame creme brulee! The hojicha ice cream on the parfait was great, the parfait itself was ok. The service was quick and everything came out fast! The space is small though so if you're coming during peak hours it might be a wait.

Savory and sweet foods were amazing. Came on a Thursday with a friend. Service was fast and friendly. Love the two waitresses they gave amazing service. Amazing atmosphere and vibes. Pricey but will 100% come back again.

TL;dr attentive staff, variety could have been better, wish it were one pot of tea per person, overall very cute and tasty & fine enough for price point. - Did the afternoon tea, strawberry seasonal set. Staff were very kind and attentive. Food was overall good. Quaint atmosphere, decor was a tiny bit sparse. Variety of tea snacks leaned prominently on the sweet side. A good spread, tasty. My partner felt that more of the items could have used fresh strawberries vs. the powdered strawberries but agreed it was overall tasty. Our fav were the cream puff, tiramisu, & tart. Also was disappointed we only got one pot of tea to share between us. All other places I have been to for afternoon tea has been one pot of tea per person. Strawberry mint green tea was good, sad we couldn’t try the other teas. Overall, would return again. Also, bathroom very spacious and modern.

Cha-An is a great placed if you’re missing Japan. I had an afternoon tea straw season and it was amazing. It’s about $80 for the afternoon tea for one person and you have to make reservation. The food was delicious. I just wish that it was a little bit more because even after I left, I was still hungry. On the weekends there is a wait so if you really wanna have a spot if you can’t go on the weekdays. Afternoon Tea was on the third floor and the restaurants very small place was on the second floor the dessert does change seasonally. I gave only four star only because the area to wait I feel it’s kind of dangerous because it’s very small space and then there’s like a long stairway to the bottom floor so if you have kids, you have to be very careful waiting near the stairway.
